Cheapest option is to hang up on any cold callers, don't buy from doorstep sellers, dump all junk mail, and properly research any investments.

You can automate the cold caller screening with ensuring your line has caller id and an appropriate phone such as a BT 6500.

Don't be greedy, if the return is much better than normal, run a mile.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

A particularly dangerous scam going round at the moment is the OneCoin scam. It's the classic ponzi scheme piggybacking off the success of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. They pretend to be the next Bitcoin and sell you worthless tokens with the promise of millions in a short space of time. If anybody runs into that scam don't buy their lies. Typical packages range from €100 to €25,000 so a lot of people have lost a fair chunk of money but are currently to oblivious to the fact until it comes crashing down on them.

    How are they contacting people?

Doorstep sellingVictims are offered goods door-to-door or from the back of a van, which are likely to be counterfeit. Fraudsters selling mattresses, fresh fish and cleaning products were all reported to Citizens Advice.

The concept of counterfeit fresh fish I find very intriguing.

It's not counterfeit, it's sold in bulk and overpriced:D

This applies to all 'exotic' investments. If you don't understand (at all levels) what you're investing in, or rely on the vendor to explain it to you, you're going to get ripped off.

There is no authority you can trust any more.

The priest from the Catholic church is here to abuse your child.

The mechanic at the garage will rip out your good parts, so he can sell it to you as new, and then still nothing is fixed.

Volkswagen lies! And then you find they are all lying!
Does anyone believe that only Mitsubishi cars in Japan are dodgy?

They pretend to be Green Deal inspectors, and who is arrested?

We need the High Septon from Game of Thrones to take over, and really give it to the sinners.

    Shame, shame, shame.....
