Mistake on esta

I was checking my esta that I obtained earlier in the year as I had obtained a new passport and happened to notice it expired in Dec 2016.

This made me realise that I have entered the wrong expiration date for my passport

I am going away in 3 weeks and was wondering do I need to apply for a new ESTA or will I be ok with this mistake. I don't want to get to USA and not get in

The original ESTA was authorised. I am worried if I apply again that it might look strange and they won't approve my travel.

You can amend some details on your esta if you go online and log in, so log in and check, although I think it is just simple things as where you'll be staying.

Passport details can't be amended so you should apply for a new ESTA.
It might not get noticed but then again, and for the sake of $14 (about £11) it's not really worth risking your holiday.

There was a post on here about a week ago from someone who was trying to get a new ESTA because of an error on their original one and they couldn't complete the process as the computer stated that there was already one that matched their passport number.
In the end they had to phone the US visa dept to get it resolved, something that you may have to do.
Try it and you may find that it all goes through without a hitch.

The OP has stated that their ESTA expires in Dec 2016 but as they only obtained a new passport earlier this year, (and thus they must also have applied for the ESTA sometime this year) they must have entered an incorrect expiry date for their passport otherwise the ESTA wouldn't expire until sometime in 2018
