Why do you say you needed to configure the PC to get it to a decent standard, when the link i gave you was exactly the spec of the one in PC world, only it had TWICE the memory and was £170 cheaper?
They do accept debit cards, though i guess not Solo?0 -

For a £170 saving, maybe now would be a good time to bother.
Alternatively for £170 saving, why not ask a relative or friend to order it for you?0 -

Most banks do not like to lose customers, so if you were to explain that your Solo card in proving to be an inconvenience, due to the limited number of places that it can be used, they may give in and provide you with a proper debit card. I know several people who have sorted this out with a simple phone call or visit to their branch. Then again if you "just couldnt be bothered" it's your loss. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

i said that because when i went on there and built a pc the best price i got was £450. of course from that link you gave it seems they do have decent pc's at good prices.0 -

i have today grabbed some info for northern rock and halifax. the main reason i wanted to get a different bank account wasnt simply because solo is hardly accepted anywhere it was also because the interest on my account is so poor, 1p for every £100 in the account.0 -

when i enquired last year i did speak to someone. i said previously i couldnt remember why they put the block on me but i think it was because the other cards were means tested and that i had to earn a minimum amount and i wasnt and still arent earning that amount. the bank giving me this grief by the way is hsbc.0 -

Just tell them that this Solo card is actually costing you money and that if they won't supply a proper debit card, you will leave and go to a better bank. I know someone who was in exactly the same situation with HSBC last year and after a quick phone call to customer services, a real debit card was sent out. Don't give up and you will get one! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

I lost count of ther number of dipsticks who had tried to install Linux as soon as they turned the PC on and lost their recovery partition. No warranty covers them for that.
ok, that is like a foreign language to me. when you buy a game do you just install it once and then not ever be able to again if it was deleted by accident? cant you just run a game without installing? what is linux? a game? personally i would rather be able to just stick the disc in and run it rather than having it permanently on the pc useing up space.
please bare in my mind i dont have a clue and have never played games on a pc, before you take what i have said apart.0 -
espresso,
i guess i could go in and speak to someone and say look i have got these forms ready from other banks and i will transfer all my money to them. i cants see it working coz we never manage to get things we want with companies. like on another issue. alot of people manage to get good deals with sky but when we phoned them they wouldnt give us anything even though we have been with them since 1990.
i do fancy getting better interest so changing might be better than trying to change the card. of course i am probably going to have to start another thread to get advice on whether northern rock and halifax are reliable.0 -

Ignore the comment about Linux it's not a game it's an alternative operating system. However the point about making a backup before you start seriously using the PC is a valid one.
Games have to be installed as usually the files on the CD/DVD are compressed and need to be unpacked and installed to run. On most modern PC's running out of hard disk space isn't really an issue unless you download lots or install lots of games. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
