Dual Supply But No Longer Use Gas?
I have a dual supply and a dual tariff with OVO.
However my Gas fire has recently been condemned and replaced with an electric fire (rent property).
The gas fire was the only gas fulled appliance in the property everything else is electric including old skool tank water immersion boiler.
So my gas meter will no longer be ticking but I'm currently paying a standing charge for it which I begrudge.
I've been on the comparison sites and all the tariffs seem to have a standing charge.
I wanted to get rid of that so I can use the money to put towards what will no doubt be higher electricity bills with the new 2KW fire.
Would the best way be to separate my gas supply to a different supplier which doesn't have a standing charge so the bill is £0 per month? Are they any still out there?
Thanks.

Ebico seems to be the only gas no standing charge supplier. You will possibly have to pay an exit fee from Ovo but as their daily charge is quite high it will not take long to recover it.0

Yup just found Ebico. Are they ok? They won't bother me about my billing being £0 every month? Seems the way to go..
Apparently they are non-profit, whatever that means.0 -

They wont be bothered about zero use , they are used to that but they employ meter readers who will pop round every 6 months( or they should do !)0 -

Consult a comparison site to find the best deal(s) for you.
Don't forget to check out seperate suppliers to maximise those savings.
If the comparsion site will not accept zero consumption, use the minimum it will accept (e.g. 1 kWh p.a.)
Most comparison sites offer some indication of customer service, etc for each supplier to help you decide. There are feedback threads for every supplier on this board too.
If you really only want to only consider tariffs that have zero standing charge, the MSE Cheap Energy Club is one site that I know you can filter output to suit this (perhaps some others do too), but I would suggest you compare the whole of market and then make your decision rather than restrict what you are looking at.0 -
Try http://energycompare.citizensadvice.org.uk/ as they cover all the market. Find the best deal there for yourself, you can always goto price comparison sites looking for cash back once you know the best deal.
For gas, you have to enter 1 kWh used per annum and the results for gas only showed it would be 5p per year for ebico, (for my postcode)0
