Unfortunately not
I might, -might-, be able to get into my local Primary School, as the 10 days requirement applies to any teaching level, I can observe a primary school but apply for secondary teaching.
That primary school accepts smart-casual attire, so again, the suit is useless.
You can wear the suit pants and a shirt. The suit will be useful to have for weddings, interviews, etc and can be altered easily if you lose weight.
I hope you are sucessful wth the Primary school. A word of advice though, when you approach them do not slag off the Secondary school.....;)Save

No weddings coming up :P.
Haha, sure. I'll hold my tongue.0 -
So how many other schools have you visited concerning work experience?
As you didn't already own a suit I assume you have never had a job, I also assume you're not bothered by first impressions, my schools have all been casual attire, if someone arrived on their first day not wearing a suit they would not be invited back as it shows a complete lack of effort. By the way, casual attire is suit trousers, a shirt and a tie with the jacket being optional.
Your choice of weight and clothes are no ones responsibility but your own.
Schools talk, the email you sent most likely ended up at county hall, therefore local schools informing county hall of a student would be informed about a threat of legal action.
DBS checks also don't last three months, they are a one day snap shot and employers choose how often to do them during continued employment or volunteering for the same organisation.0 -

You know what they say about assumptions? Wrong. I worked for eight years in my past job. Formal attire was required, or company branded polo-shirts or t-shirts. I left that job almost seven years ago. The suit no longer fits. I last wore it in 2012 for my undergraduate graduation. I did not attend my MA graduation as my parents were unwell, so I did not get a suit in 2013.
I now work for one of the examination boards, marking essays. Again, no suit required, all training was at weekends and casual attire (jeans, loose t-shirt and short sleeved shirt) were perfectly acceptable for assessors.
So yes, I've had plenty of jobs thank you. My CV is extensive, not that it's any of your business.
I have since been in education from 2009. I have had numerous paid and unpaid university jobs during my degrees - all of which were casual attire.also assume you're not bothered by first impressions, my schools have all been casual attire, if someone arrived on their first day not wearing a suit they would not be invited back as it shows a complete lack of effort. I beg to differ, that is very much formal attire. Casual can encompass dark, plain jeans, plain t-shirts and short sleeved shirts.
That might be how your school does it, but it's quite arrogant to assume that your way is the only way and that those who do not conform therefore have no respect for the schools.
All of my local primary schools accept causal attire for their visitors. If I ask in advance what THEY want me to wear and THEY tell me to go in casual attire, how does that equate to not being bothered about first impressions? If their teachers are in casual attire and tell me to go in the same, I do not see the problem. I think it just comes down to your snobbery.I

Sigh...wrong again dear. Medical conditions, no control, thank you.I

Ah, yes sorry about that, I don't know where I read the 3 months thing. Still, that's the only point in your entire snob-fest that's relevant.0 -
So, has it taken you three years to secure one work experience placement?
With respect, you're the most stuck up, self-righteous, snob I've ever had the displeasure of corresponding with online. Your assumptions prove you to be a complete fool and a failure as a forum troll.
No. I have been working on my PhD thank you. Teaching is a recent decision I've taken as the PhD draws to a close, and I began to look at SEP placements in January.0 -

A PhD or infact any education does not prevent job hunting or gaining experience, a rather poor excuse. As is avoiding schools which are a reasonable distance away, it shows a lack of effort.
Anyway, this snob only approves schools for SEPs and monitors placements, with a bit of AQA work on the side for the sciences. I had a rather lovely day at a school today quality controlling the assessment after a SEP in a secondary school.
Rather interesting that a medical condition has the responsibilty of choosing your clothes.
A troll is not someone who you disagree with and hastily act in an immature manner, it is someone who posts (usually false) material with the intention of causing drama and having a good giggle.0 -

I doubt you have an education beyond undergraduate level, otherwise you would be well aware of the demands and time constraints that come with doctoral research. Poor excuse in your ill informed brain does not equal fact, sorry. My research council funding contract clearly prohibits me from working whilst in receipt of my stipend and that the only part time work I am allowed to is within the department as a teaching assistant. Again, I doubt you have an education, otherwise you would be aware of such facts.
I cannot accept that someone as ignorant and arrogant as yourself could really work within education.
Commuting two hours in each direction is not a lack of effort, it's an unreasonable distance.
Your comments about medical conditions proves your lack of intelligence and your ignorance. If a medical condition and the associated treatments cause uncontrollable weight gain then yes, yes they do influence your clothes purchases. Duh, that's common sense, which you clearly lack.
I don't call you a troll because you disagree with me. I call you a troll because you make ill informed, incorrect, rude judgement upon judgement upon judgement and fail to actually make any legitimate or constructive points. Your posts, full of factual errors, ignorance and pomp, show that you are only posting to goad me into an argument.
Yes, I'M the immature one, for disproving all of your false assumptions and for calling you out on your apparent snobbery.
I'm sorry that you fail to understand these simple things, but your faults and failings are not my responsibility. You're boring me now, goodbye.

Lets see, undergraduate degree, masters x2, PhD, 15 years experience in teaching, of which two years were mechanics, the rest physics and a department head for six years. SEP for 18 months, AQA for three years.
During my PhD I was a single parent working part time and of course lecturing, essay marking etc, it really wasn't difficult, during my undergrad I was a single parent working full time, again, not particularly difficult. Do you realise a PGCE is essentially working full time while studying for a masters, then depending on your degree classification the need for weekend/evening work to top up your finances if you don't have adequate savings to tide you over.
Two hours isn't at all unreasonable, it could also be made shorter by cycling after the train, or booking a cab, or even organising a car share either with colleagues, or car share sites.
Size doesn't at all impact on clothing, you simply buy a larger/smaller size, like every other human being.
What summer schemes have you applied for?0 -

Sorry, I'm new to the forums really, have hardly posted before. How exactly do I block you?0
