What is the balance to pay off card in FULL?

Options
Just want to check that my understanding is correct:

The start balance of my credit card at my last statement date was about £300.

My current balance is about £1,000. I.e. I've spent £700 since my last statement date.

In order to pay off my card in FULL and not incur any interest I believe I need to pay £300 before this month's payment required date.

Next month, I will need to pay £700 in order to pay it off in full again.

If I had a direct debit setup (which I know I should) to pay the balance in full I presume the start balance is the value that would be taken.

Is that correct?

Cheers.

A full pay DD would take the amount shown on your last statement. Any subsequent spending would appear on the following statement and be due the following month.

That is correct, yes. Although I have a question about direct debits - does the direct debit always go out on the due date and not before? I have one set up for mine but I never let the DD take care of it as I'm always worried about the payment being late.

No - some will go out before the due date.

If you let the DD take care of it, you know it will never be late.

And if it is late it is the bank's fault. Fore some reason my MBNA payment has gone out after the due date for the past couple of months but is always credited on the due date.

Caveat regarding TSB. Transactions over the weekend are dated the following Monday or the first working day after a bank holiday. At least they are on my Plus current account.
