Home Insurance water whilst on holiday

I am going on holiday for a couple of weeks and wondered whether insurance covers you in you had a problem with water whilst I was away. I am a stress head at the best of times but just wondered if my insurance covers you if there was a problem. I don't really want to turn off the stop tap as the hot water tank is set to come on a couple of times a day just for 30 minutes.

    Yes you are still covered.

Read your policy and it will state that exclusions only apply after 30 days of unoccupancy.

If you are away, why do you want to continue paying for hot water when you will not be using it ? Just switch it off and turn it back on when you come back.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

As the old advice goes, turn off anything you're not using. That goes from plugs to water supply - you wouldn't be the first to come back to find you're under 6 inches of water leading to new carpeting, potential building works, and a host of busted electrical items.

I alays turn my water and gas off, and unplug all electrical items except the fridge/freezer. Better safe than sorry.

After a pipe burst when we were away once (40 years ago), my wife used to insist both tanks were drained and the mains water turned off if we went away for more than a few days. After a few years she relaxed somewhat,
