Best way to use a CREDIT CARD

Quite apart from numerous posts about the banks in Lloyds Banking Group and others closing credit cards and bank accounts without giving a reason, all you really need is a measure of common sense: Banks are in it for the profit and if they don't make a profit they are not going to provide the service. Or is it that you think banks provide services out of the goodness of their heart? I'm laughing now lol
Try this on for size: If an overdraft is never used and a bank account is used for free the offer of a credit card is more likely0 -

If you use the card they get a % of the transaction. There's the profit.0 -
I'm well aware of the threads about LBG closing bank accounts, but this discussion is about credit cards. Please at least make some sort of attempt to support your assertion that credit cards are withdrawn or APRs increased if balances are paid in full every month, otherwise everyone will have to conclude that you're making it up....
If you cannot at least get the minimum of common sense then it's a waste of time debating with me: The vast majority of my posts are either based on my own personal experience or plain ol' common sense. Again I ask if you think banks provide services out of the goodness of their heart and again I'm laughing. If they do that with bank accounts which you admit is true then they do it with credit cards. Bye bye.0 -

That's the fallacy which exists primarily on MSE and takes us into pure retail banking which hasn't existed for donkeys years. That's what the government tries to insist that banks return to. At one time banks made a profit from transactions but the degree to which retailers and in turn customers can be squeezed is limited.
But we're all still waiting for the much anticipated annual or monthly fees which never happen. So banks make their profit where they can0 -

I, for one, would like to thank you your generosity.
I've held credit cards for over 25 years and as far as I recall the only interest I've ever paid is a small amount on foreign currency atm withdrawals whilst using a clarity card.
I've never had a problem with any applications, always generous limits, cashback or additional perks etc
If you can carry on paying interest for me I'm much obliged.0 -

In the post you quoted and replied to credit cards are not even mentioned. Or are you seeing something I don't see or alternatively in a world of your own making?0 -
So whatever you do will have no effect on your credit file as you are not the card holder. Amex should not talk to you unless you have the card holder's permission.
i specifically called amex and said 'im an additional card holder, if i use this card and pay it off in full every month, will that affext MY CREDIT RATING/FILE'
He said to me 'yes it will not have a 100% reflection.... but there WILL be a reflection on MY CREDIT FILE'.......0 -

I don't understand that but in English it cannot possibly have an effect on your credit if you are not the account holder or joint account holder.
Not even considering phoning American Express because I have an application for a green card in the pipeline0 -

This is actually very surprising: I got an Amex recently, and requested an additional card for my OH. I specifically asked if the card would appear on her credit report, and they explicitly said no. They didn't even bother with a credit check.0
