Double pram HELP!
Comments
-
My eldest was 19 months when our twins were born so we were in sort of the same boat (but with 3!)
Slings are great for carrying babies.
The Nipper is an awesome buggy up to quite old toddlers, although I wouldn't use it for a newborn.
Buggy boards rock. We used our one loads. http://www.lascal.net/products/buggyboard0 -
My daughter was 2 weeks past her second birthday when I put her on a buggy board. I used a buggy board because I had newborn twins and really didn't want to get a triple buggy, also my knees don't get on with carrying babies in slings.
She was reluctant at first but got used to it pretty quickly. She did fall asleep leaning over the pram a couple of times though!0 -
I've had a 2yr old & a newborn twice. With 1 & 2 I had a parent facing pushchair which could lie flat for the newborn & have a buggy board in it but mainly sat the toddler in it & had baby in a sling. After around 6mth toddler walked/buggy board and baby in sling or pushchair.
With 2 & 3 I had the same buggy but barely used it! I used a sling for baby and toddler walked, he didn't like the pushchair and it was much easier to have both hands free for the 2yr old & 4yr old!0 -
I've got one of these. Had doubles but my 2/3 year olds didn't want to go in. They're happy to sit on the bench seat if they get tired.

My mother had our Canadian cousins over & amongst the kit she borrowed for them was a coach built pram with a seat. For local trips it was the business - the baby slept/snoozed/gawked at the mobile/sky/leaves & her elder sister alternated between stumping along & sitting. For journeys where the car was required, the Canadians had a choice of slings, backpacks and a double buggy but it was a fiend to fold & unfold (and she's an engineer!) so they agreed on a parasol pushchair for the toddler & a sling for the baby & it worked for them.
Which I think is the key point - don't get new & do try different things for different purposes. The Answer is What Works For You!

I have got a Phil and Teds, i put mud guards to avoid little fingers getting caught, I love my pram, I can go into any shops and restaurants, the wheels are sturdy enough I can go to the park etc. It's brilliant. My friend bought a Mothercare side by side, ifkwim, and she can't get into shops and finds it very akward.0

I had a Phil & Teds (with mudguards) and didn't have any problems with it, really liked it actually.
I also has a Baby Jogger city mini, albeit the single version. It is by far the nicest buggy I had (2 children, 6 prams/buggies, don't ask!). I would definitely look at the double version of this, I chose the Phil & Teds as I only needed two seats for a short period of time.
I did have an iCandy, which was lovely, but I had space to store it 'up' and walked pretty much everywhere. I wouldn't recommend it if you are in and out of the car a lot.0
