Ecofunding from SSE for new boiler
Hi There,
My mum receives pension credit due to being on a low income. My father passed away recently and my mum decided to look into having the boiler replaced as it is old and inefficient.
She has had two surveys carried out, and the second person came out on Monday of this week and said that it's a straightforward job and that no modifications would be required, just a like for like boiler swap.
My mum received a letter today saying that funding had been agreed but that she'd have to contribute £1,260 towards it.
She phoned SSE to query this and they said that because she has loft insulation and double glazing she has to pay towards it. Apparently, If she didn't have those then she wouldn't have to make a contribution. This seems like strange logic.
I have spoken to someone at the Energy Savings Trust advice line today and he said he hadn't heard of that before! He said it is normal if additional work is required to install the boiler itself, but not based on whether loft insulation or double glazing exists.
Can anyone shed any light on this or give any advice?
Thanks,
Robert.

I am bumping this thread in the hope that someone on here can advise. Has anyone heard of this energy efficiency scoring system that affects how much of a grant a person receives?
Thanks,
