Why Will Landlords Not Accept Upfront Rental Payments?

I know that all you experts are going to come up with something blindingly obvious for why Landlords won't accept someone with bad credit (completely up front with that fact) that are happy to pay 6 months rent upfront?
Is it purely because they don't know what will happen after that 6 months?
I unfortunately am of the renters mind and thinking, woo hoo, rented property for the next 6 months and no chasing late payers!
I await your comments

Because quite often the kind of people who pay 6 months up front are the same kind who set up a cannabis farm, or something else dodgy.0

Oooh, ok, hadn't considered that - well goodness knows how I would persuade a landlord that that isn't what I intend to do!! eek I really don't stand much chance then

Oh heck, it's an old account, again, didn't really think of that
haha I'm definitely not going to get any sensible suggestions now oops :rotfl:
I am genuine, believe it or not. We need to find somewhere before the end of August as we are being kicked out of current property (after 8 years) and so far all the properties we have enquired about have said that the landlords wouldn't consider us paying upfront.
ETA: we do both work and can afford the properties we are looking at, it's purely because we have terrible credit and our guarantors are no longer available that we are looking at this option.0 -
Are you trying landlords, or letting agents?
Landlords are not known for checking credit records.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -

Try gumtree for direct landlord ads, and local newsagents/post office windows0

Friend of mine split with her husband a few years ago and left the flat they shared and rented a house with her children.
She paid the rent up front, cant remember if it was 6 or 12 months worth.
That was through a letting agent0 -
my concern would that you are able to pay 6 months because you got an inheritance, or mum/dad agreed to pay, or you got redundancy money, but that in 6 months time, you'll call to say that you are very sorry but you will be struggling to pay month 7.
Ultimately, if it a choice between a tenant with a strong employment history and good credit record, and you, any landlord would be mad not to go with the former.0 -
Many landlords don't have late payers so paying 6 months up front doesn't make any difference in terms of rent except when it comes to the end of the 6 months. Bad credit could indicate a relaxed attitude to paying.0
