House Prices

Hi,

When I see the price of a house on a website is there a recommended method of checking how much the house is worth?

It is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.

    No single way:

Consider the asking prices of similar
Consider the sold prices of similar
Consider the condition/size compared to similar priced
    Whats it worth to you
Take a guess on what impact the economy will have in the short/medium term

lots more, as its not an exact science

I recommend getting someone who knows what they're doing to have a look at it and tell you.
  • Have a look on the zoopla estimate...this isn't always accurate if there have not been many recent sales in that area and of the same type of property, but generally it is a good guide

In addition look what similar priced places are listing for and actually going for..if something is on the market for a long time or being reduced a lot , it signals prices are on the way down as we are seeing with Brexit.

Get the postcode of the house and check out what else has sold in that area using ourproperty.co.uk

You know I think a business was built round that exact thing.

Recent comparable sold prices can be found on Rightmove, Land Registry, houseprices.io and numerous other sites.
