Where do I ring or write to find out details of when a Trustcard agreement was first signed.

You'd need to get in touch with Lloyds as they would've been the ones who sold you a Trust Card.

If your complaints involves PPI, then you can give them a ring on 0800 151 0292 (Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm, Saturday 9am - 2pm) and they should be able to help.

Depending how old you're talking about they might not have a copy of your original agreement - but in most cases they should have information about when your credit started with them.

Managed to find that the original agreement was signed April 1995

My terms of employment at that time provided 6 months full salary if off work ill, so would that mean the PPI on that agreement should never have been included?

No, but it does mean you were unlikely to need the insurance in that circumstance. What about unemployment? The insurance also covered that.

Anyway, are you saying it was "included" without your permission (21 years ago) ?

Does that matter about giving permission, because I got got paid full salary when off sick the PPI should never have been sold?

    Of course it "matters".

You also don't mention the unemployment segment of the insurance? Were you immune to that? If not, then your complaint (as it stands) has no valid basis.

If you didn't tell them that at the time or perhaps agreed to it and simply forgot then it will matter - if you complain you didn't want it and they produce a signed copy of the form with your tick in it then your complaint credibility is destroyed

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The Trust Card PPI policy in 1995 would've provided a fairly high benefit - so unless you also had any significant savings at the time then it's unlikely your complaint would uphold under that basis either with Lloyds or with the FOS.

For the benefit of those who have replied, when looking at whether the cost and benefit of the policy was appropriate, you need to look at whether the cost and benefit were made clear when the policy was sold. For almost all credit card PPI policies this wasn't the case - even when advice was provided in branch. The biggest downfall was the fact that the on-going cost of cover in the event of a claim wasn't explained clearly (i.e. that you would still have to pay for the PPI policy even when a claim on the policy is in force).

You said that your original agreement was signed in 1995 - have you confirmed that you also took PPI at this time? There's always a chance that at some point in the 2000's your card might've been upgraded and PPI taken after this - in which case in some circumstances the policy would've provided a much lower benefit (as the most common policy sold by Lloyds after 2000 was much less value for money).

I'd suggest going ahead with your complaint if you do truly think the policy was mis-sold - and getting as much information as you can about the policy that was sold to you.
