Hi Forum
Newbie here! I bought a car from Citreon back in 1997 and took out finance with Citreon Financial Services. I don't know if I still have the paperwork. How can I tell if I had ppi and can you backdate claims to 1997?
Thanks in advance
Paul

Contact them and ask them, although they probably won't have any records now.0

You would claim at the time of a misfortune covered by the policy.
If you mean you want to complain about the sale of the policy then you will need a reason why it did not comply with the rules at the time.
In 1997, PPI was not subject to statutory legislation or even the General Insurance Standards Council's code of practice.
Nor would Citroen Financial Services have been subject to any voluntary scheme.
That means any action would probably be through the courts and after all this time you would need to demonstrate not merely negligence or even recklessness but deliberate deception for it to be considered.
As you seem unable to even prove such a policy ever existed, you seem to be facing a long uphill battle.0
