Window locks are easy to pick. I was given a bunch of keys when I bought my house (it was a probate sale) and whilst there was keys for most of the window locks there wasn't for the master bedroom main window. I contemplated seeing if I could remove/drill screws out, but there are lots of videos on youtube to pick window locks.

Using a paperclip and small screwdriver I opened the lock within about two minutes. I guess they only have one tumbler as you use the paperclip to bump the tumbler and the screwdriver to turn the lock. I was shocked how easy it was, but I suppose they don't have to be as secure as external locks. Once the locks are open its easier to remove the screws - far cheaper to take one lock down to a locksmith to buy spare keys than to pay call out charge.
