So... Does anyone think article 50 will be triggered?
It seems like an incredibly stupid thing to do without a backup plan.

The civil service were banned from making a plan by the government. I imagine they are working overdrive now.
It will be triggered, if it isn't then UKIP could double their vote at the next election and it will translate into seats this time.0 -
Why would one trigger article 50, when it puts you at an enormous negotiating disadvantage?0

Wheels are now in motion.
Contrary to media belief the chores of daily life continue. Austerity drive within Government department continues.0 -
Who will pick up the poison chalice?
In the run up to the referendum it was said that if the UK voted to leave the EU then article 50 papers would be served the next day
Our PM decided that he was not going to put his name on the article 50 papers and resigned and said that the privilege of signing the article 50 papers will fall to his successor, this has upset the people that ran the leave campaign because the day before the vote they wrote to the PM and said if we win you should stay on as PM and guide us through the exit process
Whoever signs the papers will go down in history as the person that took the UK out of the EU and whatever the consequences are of that will be on their head and their head alone, I know that it is a democratic process and the UK public has voted to leave and the UK government will have to be involved in every step of the process but the person that puts their name on the article 50 papers will be the one that the UK public remembers0 -
Well Boris has shown his true colours and declared I am not going to be the one that puts my name to the article 50 papers.
he knew last week that the Boris train had derailed when he made his subdued victory speech makes you question why he headed the leave campaign if he never intended to stay around and follow it through0 -
He clearly wanted to run Cameron close enough to claim his right to the throne without ever actually winning.0

A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0

That's what I think. He knew straight after the result he'd messed up. He'll run off to somewhere else now and leave everyone to pick up the pieces.
Article 50 will probably be triggered. The only vaguely proper way to get out of it, would be via an election and one of the parties standing as ignoring the referendum.0
