Article 50 will probably be triggered. The only vaguely proper way to get out of it, would be via an election and one of the parties standing as ignoring the referendum.
I'm not sure that our politicians are particularly renowned for doing things even vaguely properly!
Both May and Gove don't really seem all that keen on the idea of being the one to take the leap. Ironically, she seems the keener of the 2!0 -

Nah, that was the "I hold in my hand a piece of paper" speech, after he came back from Berlin having been thoroughly hoodwinked by Herr Hitler.
Alternatively, as ISTR one of the TV parody comedy shows did it;
"I hold in my hand a piece of..." (gust of wind blows paper away) "....sh**"0 -
