Sorted my remote control problem

Just wanted to add this to the bank of knowledge as I struggled to find an answer to this on the internet.
In both the living room and the bed room we have a Humax Freesat PVR, one nearly new and one older - (differently configured remote controls).
The downstairs remote was giving problems with buttons sticking, being difficult to use and being intermittently non-functioning, though only the top set. All the resolutions I could find referred to those with PVR / TV buttons whilst ours only has one TV / AV button.
Eventually I found a post from years ago which suggested removing the casing and the circuit board to clean out the insides. As a non-techie type woman I was reluctant but then just went for it. After prising off the casing I found the upper part of the circuit covered in some sort of gunk so cleaned it off with surgical spirit and put things back together again. A little corner of plastic broke off so it's now just a bit 'weathered' but it works perfectly well again...even through the piece of 'magic' tape holding the top on. Saved myself about £25.00.
The problem was driving us a bit batty. Now it's all good.

well done!!
this has been the common fault on remote controls for years, dirty contacts between buttons & pcb. Lost count of the number I've had to do this with over the years
......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple
