House insurance claims

My Daughter asked me to come and assist her as her kitchen roof was leaking after a downpour. I got the ladders and looked at the roof which is slate and noticed a sag in the centre of the roof. It does look as if the batons were rotted and ready for collapsing. I attempted to adjust a few slates but had I have done the roof probably would have collapsed.
I know a roofer who kindly came to look and verified what I thought. He placed some plastic like sheeting over it as a temporary repair and said he could sort it next week at rather an expensive cost.
Can my daughter claim on her insurance for this because water has been going into the boiler and this seems to have been happening for a while.
Kind regards Jeff.

If it has been ongoing for a while, then it's unlikely she can claim, as most home insurance policies exclude damage that has occurred over time.
If it is the roof, it's likely that will put the roof down to wear and tear and won't cover that, but may cover the internal damage under Accidental Damage if she has this cover on her policy.
She should read the policy documents that were sent to her to see if she would even be covered before calling them to discuss it.0
