New Bay bWindows - Planning Permuission required?

Hi

I am struggling to get a concrete answer and our local authority planning department are no use whatsoever.

We are having new windows put in, at the front of the house we are changing a flat window to a bow/bay window. We have a porch and the window will not extend the house our further than the porch itself.

Does anyone know if we require planning permission? What happens if we do / don't get it? Other houses in the street have got them.

We have paid for a building notice as the window installer is not FENSA.

Any help would be great.
Thanks
S

does the window you are creating a bay in lie at the main elevation of the house i.e. the front and does it front a road?

It fronts a road but we have a porch which is closer to the road than the windows - see below

The short answer is going to be yes, it will need planning permission if it comes off the front of your house.

Your porch makes no difference to whether it needs planning.

It may well be a formality, but it does need permission.

    as above.

you can try submitting an application for a certificate of lawfulness of proposed use, buts its likely that this wont be granted and you'll need to submit an application for planning permission anyway.

    Is that full planning permission?

what you are proposing would need full planning permission but i think you would need to apply using the householder application form. have a look at your council's planning pages and it should direct you to the correct form.
