Attendance allowance and pip

Options
Hi

My wife receives Carers allowance for me which I understand will continue until she reaches pensionable age - another 7 years.

I will soon be 65 and have just been awarded the highest rate of pip in both sections.

I assume I am not eligible for attendance allowance as I receive pip?

When my wife's carers allowance stops will she automatically be transferred to attendance allowance?

All rather confusing so would appreciate some clarification.

thanks

Ian

You can't claim AA while claiming PIP
AA is not a replacement for CA so your wife won't get it when she gets her pension.

If you're entitled to pension credits your wife will be able to get a carers premium on her GPC which will partly replace the carers allowance.

As above - CA is paid to the person doing the caring; AA is paid to the person who needs care.

Who knows what the benefit system will look like in seven years time when your wife retires?

If you're unsure about your benefits, ask AgeUK or CAB for a benefit check.
