Shared Ownership Question

Hi all
I have been told by L&Q that I'm not eligible for shared ownership and I just wondered whether anyone else has come across the same problem, or got round it with other housing associations.
I would like to purchase alone but have a partner who owns a house elsewhere. I would like for him to live with me but not be part of the shared ownership application as I know that the fact he owns a property already makes him ineligible and he wouldn't be accepted for a second mortgage anyway.
I earn enough to cover all costs myself and I don't own any other property and have no share in his.
L&Q have said that if he lives with me they would expect us to be joint purchasers. As he is a property owner that makes us both ineligible.
Has anyone got experience of buying as a sole owner and having a partner live with them in this way?
I can't raise a mortgage to buy outright in London and even if partners house was sold he wouldn't make a profit on it so we're stuck in limbo at the moment.
Thanks
