Just bought and installed a Humax FVP-4000T which is working as expected.

However, the colours on the screen seem pale and washed out, while they are fine and vibrant on the TV itself.

Is there a way of adjusting the colours or contrasts/brightness via the Humax? Adjusting these on the TV makes no difference.

Thanks!

There's nothing in the manual to suggest it's possible, under Video Setting it simply says "You can set the screen ratio, display format and screen resolution". That doesn't look to me look colours can be adjusted.

Might be worth checking out the Humax forum to see if other people have experienced the same issue, it could be a fault with your box.

You can't change the colour set up on the the 4000T. You will need to do it via the TV. That said, there is no problem on mine (with colours:() it mirrors the colours on the TV set up.
    Try changing the HDMI lead....
I've relegated mine from the main TV as it's slow and has a pig ugly UI.
Not really an advance forward from the T2 more a huge retro leap.

So if you're watching Freeview directly on the TV the colours are good, but on the Humax, via an HDMI port (?) they're not?
I guess your TV saves its picture settings PER INPUT. And therefore take a note (photo!) of TV's picture settings on Freeview, then switch to the Humax input, and compare, and change, the settings.

    Thanks guys.

I changed the HDMI lead but no difference at all. Also, the picture on the screen is narrowed on Freeview Ch10 (ITV2) only - with a large black margin area down both sides of the picture. The picture on the TV is normal width.

Have I got a dodgy box or have I messed up the installation somehow?

Did you not read my post above? Your TV may store settings for each input - can be a good idea but can also be confusing.
Bars down the side is actually a good thing - you're watching an old programe made for the 'square' TVs, on a wide TV - there is simply no picture there. Was it Columbo or The Saint or something? If you really wanted to your TV will have settings to stretch or cut off bits of the picture, but you don't want to do that.
