Dont touch your card ?? What about AOL payments

I see a running theme about balance transferring that says once you have transferred your card (s) debts onto a 0% card you should not use that card then for purchases. I understand the method behind this but what about when you need a credit card to pay for your monthly ISP. In my case AOL. Surely i should not get a card solely for paying this off each month??
2015 Goals:
To be debt free which at the start of the year will be approx 10K. One holiday win and some cash to help along with the debt payments. Anything else will be a bonus that i can then pay it forward with.

It is now possible to pay AOL through Direct Debit rather than from credit card. Thats what I have done.

    Debenhams card: 600 now paid

The general message is: "don't mix balance transfers with purchases as only a few cards on 0% treat them in the same way"

    The solutions vary therefore:

    1) Always get a card that offers both [i.e. 0% on purchases too]

    2) Keep a second/other card for purchases anyway

For recurrent items [credit card equivalents of direct debits - 'continous payment authorities'] you should definitely keep a dedicated card for these as stopping/moving these payments to other cards/accounts can be hard to arrange once set up. This is what I do - all CTAs on one card with a low limit.

As for AOL: get their credit card, do a BT, wait nine months, then clear the balance BEFORE seeing if you can move the CTA there. The reason being that AOL card gives loyalty points redeemable against monthly subscription for the service.

And one accrues points for balance tranfering - if you have a large enough limit you can pay the transfer fee but get more back in broadband bill payments...
