Condensation on double glazing
Comments
-
You don't actually have to solve this problem. Your windows will still provide good insulation and net curtains (yuk, I know) would hide the sight of the trapped condensation if it bothered you that much.
As to whether you can get away with UPVC on the front and not the back. I would say that should be OK. Its impossible to look at a front and back window at the same time, from the inside or out, so won't offend the eye.
Near here there is a road of expensive houses where the front windows are all timber framed to keep in line with the street fashion, but most people have replaced the rear windows with UPVC.
Purists would say that you should always have wood and never UPVC. The latest fashion is now powder quoted steel - full circle almost back to aluminium!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. It's only that I'm in an upstairs maisonette, and the maisonettes in my street (there is about 10, the rest are houses) either have the aluminium or upvc windows. The lady downstairs has UPVC, so it was more a case of just blending in (eventualy). I presume that the windows were wood originally, but they have all been replaced with the aforementioned.
I agree that wood looks better, and UPVC/aluminum can look unsightly in most houses.Projects 2020-
