Cloud Storage - Best value - Knowhow Cloud?

Hi All,

When I purchased my laptop, I got a deal to buy office, knowhow cloud and anti-virus at PC world.

Knowhow cloud is a great product for me, I need to keep some drawing files from work I have done in the last, but also back up all my photos, documents in the event my computer breaks or is stolen. This is easier than backing up conventionally using hard drives and the product also allows remote access, so I can download bits and pieces at work.

I get tons of storage, but use around 10% of it. It costs £30. I'm considering if there are any other automatic backup programs other people use instead of Knowhow cloud.

With so many cloud equivalents such as BT, Asus, Drop box, one drive - I don't know if they do the same thing? and if I should use these? I would be interested in other peoples experiences?

Tim

Google Drive is free for up to 15gb. If you have office you may qualify for some free one drive space.

    Another one for Google Drive.

If that's not to your fancy, Dropbox is also another alternative

Google Drive, Dropbox & Amazon cloud are my current preferred ones - all do the same thing really apart from differing storage amounts. Try some & see which you prefer.

Seriously, I use my own home computer as "cloud storage", I simply setup an FTP server and suddenly i've got over 1.5TB of "cloud storage" for nothing, plus once my files are up on my network, they're stored on my server AND backed up to my NAS drive.

I'm wary of these services, most of them make you effectively sign over ownership of your files, that includes intellectual property and personal information.

My phone used to upload all the photo's taken to dropbox, i bought a NAS box and it now uploads them directly to that. Still stores the latest pictures taken just in case though.

No relying on someone elses equipment to store my files. Makes you wonder how much snooping they do and if you think none then your in a dreamworld.

the whole point of cloud storage is to store your important files on someone elses computer. offsite storage should be part of everyones backup strategy.

i pay around £1.30 per month for 100gb of google storage

    £30/yr isn't a dreadful deal if you're happy with what you're getting.
If you have an Office365 subscription (approx £60/yr to 'rent' Microsoft Office) they include 1TB of cloud storage with that, so may be better value again.
