PC Build

Hi all,
Looking for some advice as I consider some options for a new PC build. I'm looking at consolidation, replacing my Xbox 360, laptop and macbook into one machine.
The plan is to have a single machine that will run the next few FIFA games, F1 new releases and also have the spare capacity to run a Mac OS on a VM.
I'm not overly concerned with VR, so doesn't have to be a world beater.
Thinking the core components need to be 16GB DDR4 2400 RAM, Intel i5 6500 and a Geforce GTX960 4GB if I can get away with it? What are peoples thoughts? I always worry when coming up with a build that, for example, I'm wasting money on a decent CPU and it's being held back by something else.
Cheers.

On a conservative build budget, would I be able to get the most out of that card or would it make more sense to get an older generation?Similar thread here that might help you:

Thanks for this. I'll have a proper read of that thread later, although a scan read does say it's not for gaming.0 -

older gen cards dont really go down in price (unless you go second hand, which maybe a good idea). As such, it's better to buy the newest technology. Better performance per £.0 -

Actually, looking at the card quoted above, it looks like a very good bang for buck choice. Not on the same level as new Nvidia stuff, but still very good.
Does anyone have experience with AMD graphics cards? I've only ever had Nvidia before.0 -
