Changing from prepayment to credit meter - how long should it take?

I moved in mid-March to a house with a prepayment electric meter. I was with Npower before the move so decided to switch over to them in the new house as I hoped that it would be easier to change over the prepayment meter to a credit meter with them.

Since then, there have been issues with my meter reads - in that I've been supplying them but Npower haven't been recording them for some reason. I raised a complaint a couple of weeks ago and phoned them today but they've told me that their IT department are dealing with it and they don't know how long it will take to resolve. So at the moment I'm stuck paying towards a prepayment meter rather than being able to look for cheaper alternatives.

Can anyone tell me how long they've had to wait for a meter to be changed over please? It feels like I've been waiting for ever but maybe this is the normal time period!

I don't know whether I should look to transfer to another supplier (and wait another 6 weeks or so for the transfer to the new supplier to take place) or try to stick it out with Npower!

Thanks for any advice :)

No more than 2 weeks...from the time your application has been accepted.

If there is a fault on Npower's end preventing them from changing it to a credit meter then ask for some money to compensate you for the additional cost of the prepayment meter tariff.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

    Thanks :)

I'd better get back on to Npower!
