Which type of JSA

Hi all
Never having claimed JSA myself I'm a bit confused by all this. I'm going through some paperwork for my wife, who claimed JSA for a few weeks a couple of times after being made redundant (twice) several years ago. We need to know if it was contribution based or income based JSA. I think it was contribution based (she had been working in the UK for about two years by the first redundancy). The only documentation I can find is the P45 Part 1A Jobseekers Allowance Claim, giving details of the claim and the amount paid etc.
How can I confirm that it was contribution-based JSA?

Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

if you were working over 24 hours and/or earning over £110+(?) per week at the time then she would not have qualified for income based so it must have been contributions based0

Could she not call and ask them to confirm?
What does she need to know for?0 -
If this is for tax then whatever appears on the P45 must be claimed as taxable income.
Normally income based JSA is not subject to any tax but contributions based JSA is. If she was on income based JSA the P45 would have lots of zero's on it.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Both types of JSA are taxable.
It's ESA that is only taxable when contributions based.0 -

She probably could, but it would be easier if there's a way to tell from the forms. She needs to answer the question "have you ever claimed income-based JSA?"Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

The original letters would have told her but I doubt the P45 would as that is for tax purposes.
What is she doing that she needs to answer that question?0 -

As Caz3121 says, if you were working it's highly likely that your wife was previously receiving Contribution based JSA. If it was several years ago it's entirely possible that information related to that claim will no longer by on the system and staff would not be able to give an immediate answer.0
