It all depends on which university you are at, and which bursary you are getting.

I do not get my first payment until the end of October.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Thanks for your reply, sorry i meant non- means tested maintenance grant, not bursary. I don't know if this changes anything though

I think your meant to get the loans and grants 3-5 days after you start. They scan the finance letter which you take to the university when you start and then send the money through a bank transfer.

If your payments are to be made via BACS (Bank Automated Clearing System) you can expect the payment to be in your account within 3-5 working days of your Higher Education Institution (HEI) confirming your attendance

    From the Student Loan site.
  • My uni never scan anything and never have in the three years i've been there.

Mine usually comes in the weekend before the term starts. But this time it is a week into the term and i don't know when my loan will come in because they've messed it up!

  • If you're a new student at the university, it'll be a few days after you register and they've seen your payment scheduale etc. If you're continuing, you normally get it a few days before the start of term because you will have registered online/via post before term starts. If, like me last year, you have to register once you start back it'll be a few days later...unless you're uni forgets to tell SLC that you've registered and then you'll get it when you complain!

Haha youll be VERY lucky to get it before!!

When I enrolled last year I had to hand my student finance form in, we then all waited for 3 WEEKS!!! before they gave us our money. Apparently this is normal!

Hoping a bit earlier this year as Im rather skint :( And works been a bit short on the hours, so not much cash coming in.
