Help with Excel please

Hi folks, and thanks for looking in.

I've been collating some data, and now want to start getting it to work for me ...

I have 3 cells ... the first has a temperature reading in it ... the other two have 'Y' and 'N' responses ...

What I want to have Excel do is this -

Create a formula/function in a separate cell, so that when the temperature reading is below a certain level, and either/both of the other 2 cells has a 'Y' in it, a value of one is created.

I've used COUNTIF before now, but only for defined parameters.
It don't know if it will work for a 'less than' situation, like my current question, if that makes sense ??:undecided

    COUNTIFS will do the job
  • Say I want to set the the trigger to a reading of anything less than 36.5, what would I place in the inverted commas part of the function ?

    "<36.5" ???

  • =IF(AND(A1<25,OR(B1 = "Y", C1 = "Y")),1,0)
Where A1 is the value to compare, B1 and C1 are the Y comments

This should work?.. Perhaps (if i read you right....)

    =IF(F7<36.5,"Y","N") - in cell B1

    and then

    =IF(F7>36.5,"Y","N") - in cell C1

    Thanks for that Shane25 ...

Put it into the spreadsheet, and once I worked out the way the function worked, got it to do what I wanted :j

    Hi Discodave

Wasn't quite what I was after, but thank you for helping out.
