I know exactly how you feel about not spotting your dog's tooth problems. Something similar happened with my cat ( tooth decay/tartar not an abscess, thankfully) and I felt so neglectful when he had to have some extractions. I love him to bits and really care for his needs. However hard up I am I make sure he never goes without any of his creature comforts. I've never tried cleaning his teeth though.
The vet himself said it's very difficult for owners to spot these things as cats are creatures of habit and carry on doing what cats do regardless. My cat was tucking into his food as normal, I only took him to the vet as he'd started dribbling. What the vet said didn't make me feel much better though as I felt terrible that my lovely cat had been in any pain or discomfort and I didn't even realise.
I hope your dog is OK now:). Sorry about the bill though:eek:.0 -

No, you're right. A major flaw of mine is only seeing the negative. It's a personal challenge of mine to try to be less pessimistic but it's not easy (as you can tell!)

Declaring £88.01 as my total for this month. I joined at the very end and originally planned for £5 a day but I hit that and upped it to £10. So I’m £8.01 over.
Then August 1st came and I was asked to do another pet portrait. August will be a good month I can tell! I put all of it on my credit card so that’s a nice little chunk.Ev Kizzy Make £10 A Day August Challenge: £364.54/£310
