Can't get BBC on my new telly!

Hello!
Been given a massive telly, have done a factory reset and a retune, turned it off and on a few times but it won't tune any BBC channels which is a bit annoying as the only thing I watch is countryfile!
My old little telly picked up all the channels...
What's my next step?!

Perhaps ask the person who gave you the TV whether not being able to get BBC channels was the reason they gave it away?0

Adjust the aerial. It might be slightly out of alignment. Digital TV tuners either pick up a signal or they pick up nothing.
If your old little telly had an external freeview box then plug that box into the new TV and see if it still works.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Do you get any other channels?0 -
If it gets Dave or Yesterday, then strictly speaking it gets BBC channels.
It may just require retuning. Get the kid from next door or whoever.Advent Challenge: Money made: £0. Days to Christmas: 59.0 -
If you only watch Country file just watch it on your computer and dump the tellymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Dave and Yesterday are on the two Arquiva multiplexes. Their broadcaster, UKTV, is only part owned by BBC Worldwide so strictly speaking not BBC channelsIf it gets Dave or Yesterday, then strictly speaking it gets BBC channels.
OP, unplug the aerial and do a full retune. It will obviously pick up nothing. Plug aerial in and again do a full retune and hopefully all will be well.
Check that you receive C1 BBC1, C3 ITV1, C10 ITV3, C11 Pick and C18 4 Music then you have all the SD multiplexes.0 -

I did the first part of this, and it didn't make any difference, the second part, to be honest, I don't understand!
But I have an Amazon firestick which I can watch iplayer on so can watch countryfile!
Have just watched Adele at Glastonbury and have been completely amazed! I've gone from a little 21inch thing to something that covers half my wall, with knock out sound... And it was given away!!!:cool: lurker:cool::cool:0 -
What's the weather like where you are? that can have an effect on old/bad cabling and aerials
Try retuning your TV at night instead of during the day, you're more likely to get a stronger signal at night.
If I retune during a sunny day I can loose 10-20 channels!Laters

It is strange not getting the BBC mux as it is usually the strongest, in my area PSB 1,2 & 3 transmit at 20 kW and all the rest at 10 kW.sparkychris wrote: »I did the first part of this, and it didn't make any difference, the second part, to be honest, I don't understand!
Channels 1, 3, 10, 11 and 18 each transmit on a different multiplex. Checking which of those you do or do not receive is the easy way of finding out your total reception. If you get ITV (CH3) because of the way DTV works you will also have 4,5,6,13,14,15,24,28 &33.0
