car insurance cancelation fee

hi,
first post so please forgive me if i have posted in the wrong place, i think its right.
I have just cancelled my car insurance policy as due to a new baby my partner and i have decided that 1 car is enough (saving money idea which meant me giving up my nice but expensive car).
I've been told that there is a cancelation fee of £45, person on the phone said it is because of the contract not running to the end which i can understand, on the documents it says it's an administration charge.
My question is as i have just received my cheque for my bank charges thanks to this site (a big thanks there) isn't £45 admin fee a bit high? I thought that is the reason the banks had to refund the charges as £35 was to excessive or have i got it wrong?
Hope someone can help, willing to pay but like to save monay if i can.
Thanks in advance and hello everyone.
Steve

The short answer is no you can't because it's a charge for a service rather than a penalty charge for breach of contract (like your bank charges were)0

cheers for that, oh well, still think it is high and the customer service bloke agreed but suppose im saving £100 a month on the policy so not to bad and still worth me cancelling.
Will have to check contracts more before entering into them.
thanks for your answer.0
