rules regarding trees

Adrian, I thought as much. So he is going to need planning permission unless he has mixed up his terms.0

Has he actually suggested that he would pay for it? I faced exactly the same situation with my previous neighbours. They decided to build a lounge area at the back of their garden and complained that the three trees lining the end of my garden were too high and meant they didn't get sunshine.
I didn't mind these being trimmed (not cut) but the problem is that they went about it demanding that I cut it down making reference to their right of sunlight and just sent a very rude and arrogant message. Such a pity because I would have been happy to work with them if they had said they would pay for it, even maybe if asking for a contribution, but their attitude of entitlement meant that I just responded and said 'no sorry'.0 -
They're called leaves

And bits
Constant tiny, microscopic, flakings of old branches, twigs, etc etc.
Not just leaves....
And acorns .... and the little acorn holders ....
You couldn't stand outside without some microscopic !!!!!! landing in your eye ... and it all piled up against the house and/or flew around in gales... and blocked the gutters.
Glad it's stopped/gone.0 -
It is a brick built sunroom with the windows on the side not actually facing where the tree is - the side which would be facing the same way as the tree is a brick wall! He did apply for and get PP. We did not oppose it as it didn't have any effect on us. It is only now he is complaining about the tree. The building is due to start any day.
He didnt offer to pay for it cutting down. His words were "I have a chainsaw and would help your husband to cut it down" Not going to happen.0 -
Why does it need to be cut down entirely rather than trimmed? Surely the sun is in the sky most of the day!0
-
don't know - he just said could we cut it down.:)0
-
Even if you agreed to take it down - which you under no obligation to do, i would insist a tree surgeon did it and paid for by your neighbor including very costly stump removal.
A friend of my parents sadly died about 20 years ago cutting down a tree in his back garden !0 -
The tree won't block much light to his extension... he'll actually appreciate it being there. The sun moves around and will give him a lot of direct light.
Just nicely say you'd like to keep it as it screens your views of the chav/gypsy caravans sorry.
PS I'm not sure why it's relevant to bring up his non attendance at village meetings... I'd avoid that type of midsomer bullsh*t too.0 -
I was just saying that he doesnt involve himself in village life in any way except to complain about things. Why move to the country and complain about country sounds or tractors on the road.0
