expats health insurance

One of the downsides of the Brexit vote for UK expats is the probable cessation of reciprocal services and those without private medical insurance (who may also have been relying on UK services as well as in country services under reciprocal arrangements) will be wondering what might be the chances now of getting cover from UK companies for medical care.
Does anyone have any ideas in this respect? Is cover available and at what cost? What is the situation when they are elderly or pensioners or have a history of medical conditions?
It is recognised that the healthcare provision can be variable abroad from excellent to poor as are arrangements for foreign residents. Often in the UK for emergency treatment it is care first then residency question afterwards but that is not always the case abroad.
Note this query is not about short term travel/holiday insurance. Anything on MSE website?

There is no current indication that cross border arrangements on healthcare will be ended in Europe. UK government should continue to pay UK citizens healthcare in EU countries and UK would continue to offer NHS to EU citizens resident or visiting the UK.
In regard to UK citizens living officially in Spain for example, UK government pays about £3k per person annually to the Spanish government so they can get local public healthcare.
In the event that there are changes meaning people can't access local public healthcare, they would have to make arrangements locally. There will be options of paying relevant tax or amount to gain access to healthcare. For an elderly person with medical issues, gaining private insurance may be impossible or unaffordable.
Obtaining medical cover through a UK company for a UK citizen living abroad might be difficult, as i think most work on the basis of UK healthcare system involving public or private depending on the medical situation. There might be some high net worth products offering worldwide healthcare policies, but these will come at a price making it irrelevant to most people. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
