If you want a room you can use all year round why are you having a conservatory?

Because a carefully designed and speced conservatory CAN be used 4 seasons:money::money::money:
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

And how many are carefully designed and specked?

They don't have to comply with building regs and most of the companies are ignorant of them anyway. So what are the chances of that happening?

No doubt you'll argue you plastic and glass box is never to hot nor too cold and can be used every day of the year. Whilst we cannot prove it isn't all we have is your word it is.

Our conservatory is north facing with a glass roof on a bungalow it is used all year round, with good ventilation and heating the temperature can be controlled in both summer and winter with no massive increase of our bills, anyway it is used and lived in continuously personally we would not be without one.

Then take it, you don't have an argument to the contrary.

Grow up, just because someone dares to disagree with you.

The problem is you disagree and question nearly every poster and post on these forums.

I have a conservatory with pilkington blue glass roof which faces east and I can only use it between Apirl/May and September/October because it is much too cold in the winter.

You should really have an extension if you need to use the room all year round.

I am happy with my conservatory as I don't need the space all year round.

I believe this is a brilliant endorsement for the sales spin and general BS which goes with conservatories. People focus on the glass - should it be blue, should it be easy clean, what gas is in the sealed units, what is the glass thickness, what is the gap between the panes...? and completely ignore the realities of a roof.

A house roof, or the roof in a sun room, should have at least 300mm of fibreglass insulation above the ceiling - which itself will be around 15mm deep. How can anyone believe any sales person spewing out conservatory roof BS when the entire thickness of a glass roof is only around 35mm?

It is a certainty that a conservatory will not be any use in the Autumn and Winter, simply because of the inadequacy of the roof insulation. We are not talking rocket science here, just basic principles of building.
