Quick question.
2 days ago my son booked a hotel room via booking.com. He got the confirmation e mail but when he arrived this evening he was told his booking had been cancelled! Long story short it would appear the hotel is going down the pan but he is now stuck in Cambridgeshire on a Saturday night and now having to pay a lot more for a room.
Does he have any recourse to booking.com for the extra cost incurred?

Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.

How did he pay for it? Credit/debit card? How much did it cost?
His contract was with the accommodation provider - booking.com were just acting as an agent for them. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
He paid by credit card but it was only £60. Because it is Saturday night he has had to pay £110 elsewhere. You have confirmed what I suspected, that booking.com have no liability.Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0

Your son should claim back his £60 from his credit card supplier using Chargeback. Reason - Services Not Provided.

He won't get back the extra he had to pay, only the original amount paid.0

Speak to Booking.com again. They can refund him the additional cost and charge the hotel who failed to honour the booking. Happens a lot (I work in this field)
That assumes he booked a similar rated hotel however, if he booked 2 star and end up in 4 star, then that explains the cost difference for example..0 -

Is that even where the booking agent isn't party to the contract?
