Hi, KKirk,
I would be interested to hear the end of the story, any news? Can you change from a pre-payment meter to a credit meter or is that contra to your tenancy agreement?

Hello, Smodlet!
Sorry for such a delayed response, I haven't been on here for a while and had a lot on with work.
The whole thing got resolved within a day of my last post. My credit file is absolutely clear of the word 'Npower' and is a clean file again. I managed to get my loan just in time to sign the lease. And to make matters nicer we received a cheque of just under £400 for our credit reimbursement and good will gesture.
We haven't changed the meter, our landlord says we are welcome to but we would have to pay to get the meter changed, and with us only wanting to stay here only for another year I don't see the point. Besides, it's very easy to manage our expenditure when on a pre-paid.
In regards to the meter, apparently it's an extremely old meter and you cannot reset it (or something along those lines) when a new tenant moves into the property. Hence why it went through as a name change.
Again, I was completely baffled by the whole situation and still am, but I am just so relieved that my name is clear and I got a nice settlement fee in return! Happy days.
I was so impressed how quickly it got resolved just by posting it on Facebook, but at the same time so disappointed that it has to get to that point for anything to be done.
Again, thanks for your words of advice!! :beer:0
