family BBQ

I'm looking for an easy to clean family size BBQ that I can buy for this summer, I'm currently looking at the bucket type ones but need something big enough for a family of 8, we usually use 2 of the A4 sized disposable ones and I'm thinking its probably cheaper for me to invest in a small static one and just have to buy the coal and firelighters.
Any recommendadtions or bargains, any to avoid??
many thanks guys

We've got one very similar to pigpen's. It's the 2nd one of this type we've had and is great when you're catering for larger numbers. The adjustable height grills mean you can cook things properly, not burnt on the outside and raw in the middle!
It's this one....

Keeping it clean is easy - line the base with foil before adding the charcoal, then when completely cold after the BBQ you can scoop out the ash and remove the foil, I take the grills off straight away and when cooled down clean them in the bath, but a washing up bowl or bucket outside is probably a better idea! I keep the grills indoors and have a cover for the BBQ as they do get rusty.Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame

I line everything with tin foil but had never thought of doing this. Thanks muchly :T0 -
I would wait until the end of the summer and buy a gas one when they're reduced. The large stores always discount them hugely as they don't want giant boxes cluttering up their limited stockroom. No hassle waiting for charcoal to be ready - they're hot in 5 minutes - so you can fire it up every day of the week if the weathers up to it.0

Is the gas expensive though, compared to the charcoal ones?? And do you still get the bbq's taste, otherwise I may as well just grill it!?I would wait until the end of the summer and buy a gas one when they're reduced. Hi Kin, we have a gas bbq and you do get the bbq taste but that's because we have lava rocks in them. DH has just said some you buy nowadays don't have that, so are in effect a grill. He also said he changed the gas to one he could buy locally, so a bottle cost around £20ish and has lasted two years, but we are a smaller family of 4.Is the gas expensive though, compared to the charcoal ones?? From reading another post, I gather you want something to do you over the summer with some parties, I'd just get the best you can for you budget to suit your family size and then if you find it's not quite met your requirements, look out for something else at the end of the season when models are reduced.0 -
there are several in our local B and Q that are going on sale on Friday, just the clam shell type ones for charcoal but are bigger than a bucket bbq, I'm going to get one of these as they are being reduced to £20 with a starter of coal and firelighters etc.Hi Kin, we have a gas bbq and you do get the bbq taste but that's because we have lava rocks in them. Bargain and should be enough for what I need it for. :-)Just a single mum, working full time, bit of a nutcase, but mostly sensible, wanting to be Mortgage free by 2035 or less! £196,000/£177560 to go0
