Anyone for swapsies :rotfl: I'm happy to move to Scotland if they rejoin the EU...
You could move to Ireland which will remain part of the EU.
The Irish speak English and have a culture very similar to our own.
If you didn't want to move to Ireland there are another 26 countries in the EU you could move to many of which have an English speaking community and value the EU membership.
I'm staying here in England.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Spain wasn't going to be a problem; remember this was during a diplomatic spat between Spain and the UK regarding Gibraltar. The tame media painted a bizarre scenario where Spain would have to find new fishing grounds to keep the UK government happy. Never in a million years. :rotfl:
Spain was a problem, and specifically, the Catalan independence movement. If Scotland were to be given a mechanism whereby they could divorce UK while still retaining EU membership, the same route would have been open to Catalonia. That's the real reason why the EU tried to be obstructive as possible before. I suspect the French were against it to as there is also a Corsican independence movement."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -

I'm French, and I happen to speak a few other languages tooso I'm not too restricted in my choice.

If you listen to Nicola's speech post the result you will see how she emphasises her gratitude and welcome to all EU nationals who have chosen Scotland to be their home. I have no reason to believe UK citizens will be treated any differently.
Indeed, we may have many remainers wishing to come here if Scotland can retain EU membership independently.0 -

The Scottish movement always distanced itself from the Catalan one as Catalonia's constitutional status was different. Barosso you may remember was a Portuguese politician on the make who needed UK support for his promotion, and the Uk was happy to spend taxpayers money to canvas support for the Westminster parliaments' interests against Holyrood's. The Spanish flatly denied they had any say in the matter and they were ill-disposed to support the UK while arguing fiercely over Gib.
The Spanish would have been sunk if Scotland had been forced into joining EFTA (who had been turning up at SNP conferences for years) and regaining control of their fishing waters. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

The remainder of the UK can then decide what to do. Either Scotland is in or out. Scotland cannot sit on the fence indefinately. Could trigger some business movement.
If an independent Scotland can retain EU membership, it might well become an attractive location for the banking sector looking to leave London."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -

Your fishy story is mostly red herrings

The Catalans visited Scotland for advice and support but Scotland has nowt to offer them due to their different constitutional status. Similarly Quebec.
It was labour's idea to have the Holyrood parliament designed by a Catalan. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
I've got to ask, am I the only one who sees Sturgeon as that krankie boy/girl (delete as appropriate) ?
I would pay good money for her to say fandabbydozzie!0 -
Serious post now...
If Scotland becomes independent and also a member of the EU and we are out of the EU, then presumably we would have an enforced border with Scotland as they would have free movement of EU citizens?0
