My son wants to order a laptop which will cost a lot of money (€1200). He's a student so this is going to make a fair dent in his summer income.
He will use it primarily for gaming, and is thinking of these specs:
Optimus VII
15.6 inch screen 1920 x 1080
Intel i7 quad core processor 6700HQ (2.6GH), 3.5GHz turbo
RAM 16GP HyperX IMPACT 1600MHz SODIMM DDR3 (2x8GB)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M - 2GB DDR5 Video RAM DirectX 12
Hard Disk: 240GB HyperX SAVAGE 2.5" SSD, SATA 6 Gb/s
2nd Hard Disk: 1 TB SERIAL ATA II 2.5" hard drive with 8 MB cache (5400 RPM)
Does this sound ok for what he has in mind?
Has anyone had experience with PC Specialists and if you have, how did you find them?

I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

I find they are a little overpriced for what you get. I own 2 laptops from PCS and both have been fine one is for gaming with a 860m about 2 years old.
My wife has the other but just an intel card.
You could look at this one as well https://www.scan.co.uk/products/156-msi-gs60-6qe-ghost-pro-gaming-laptop-26ghz-core-i7-6700hq-8gb-ram-1tb-hddplus128gb-ssd-3gb-gtx-9?utm_source=google+shopping&utm_medium=cpc&gclid=CMqqkrPlwc0CFeEp0wodMG0Fqw

Definitely go for a 970M graphics card over the 960M if you are spending that much moneypoppy100

I've passed on the info to my son and he's having a look.
It's all double dutch to me, I just hope he's getting value for money.
Thank you both:beer:.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

If you can afford it get a laptop with a desktop graphics card in it.
Switch-able graphics suck, and some programs and most browsers will only use the onboard useless graphics.0 -
This post is almost completely nonsense. You can't fit a desktop graphics card inside a laptop - they are massive.dealer_wins wrote: »If you can afford it get a laptop with a desktop graphics card in it.

Switchable graphics work fine these days - with Nvidia Optimus you can set which programmes use the (low power) onboard graphics and which use the dedicated graphics cardpoppy100 -
As above ... Optimus tends to work just fine. (I've had my laptop with a 540m and Optimus for a few years now).0

They might be referring to the Razer Core line of external graphics?

Not cheap once you include the £250-£450+ card as well.0 -
I briefly had a Zoostorm laptop (returned for the simple reason I wanted a desktop instead) and the quality of it was quite good.
The do one with a GTX 980m card for around the price you are looking at:

Processor appears to be slight better on the Zoostorm:

Some might not like the make but it seemed ok to me.0
