Mature Student Finance

I'm a 36 year old mother of three about to start a second degree.
I've just received a letter stating that I cannot have ANY financial support at all from the Welsh Assembly based on the fact that I already have a degree.
Welsh students who study in Wales are supposed to be entitled to a grant of £1800 towards their tuition fees but I can't find any evidence to say that I don't qualify for this. Does anyone know if I can claim this grant?
Also, does anyone have any experience of Career Development Loans? I can't decide whether to take one out as I'm not sure I trust high-street banks anymore.

Dont know if this applies to Wales, but in England if you already have a degree then you are not entitled to any student loans/grants even if you didnt take a loan/grant out for your first degree.

Sorry if this isnt what you wanted to hear, but maybe for Wales its different rules.

Looks like the rules are the same for Wales too. I'm not sure of the fairness though! What is wrong with a loan? I can understand the arguement against giving out grants to those of us who have received them before but a loan has to be repaid. Oh well. Maybe I'll take this up with the Welsh Assembly...
