Unfortunately such personal information is usually a pre-requisite to obtaining credit, and we all know the best energy prices are only available to those with credit meters.

Is there just me who thinks this whole things has been a waste of time? The four tariff rule probably needs to go but I don't see how accepting the big six view that competition is the answer (when they want to keep things jsut as they are) has been accepted by anyone looking at this seriously.

They have established a confusopoly, I think it is time for petrol station style pricing with no standing charge. Then everyone could see at a glance which is the cheaper tariff and this might increase switching.

I think this database will be a damp squib, people dont trust the suppliers, no amount of leaflets will change that...

and now the price comparison places want to join in by enhancing consumer confusion about what is really the best deal, or not... sigh.
