Does job type affect car insurance?

We are due to renew our car insurance and my hubby was wondering if his job type would affect the quotes we are given.
He could describe his job as either manual (blue collar) or not (white collar) and we were wondering if using one of the other would be beneficial. Also are specific words in the job title detremental ie. sales rep etc
Any comments/suggestions welcome

It affected ours by about £50 - it's worth (if you are doing it online) getting a quote and then altering the job description slightly (providing it's still an accurate description of what he does) and asking it to recalculate.
For example, I put in my hubby as 'driving - delivery driver' and that was £50 more than 'driving - parcel deliverer'....weird!!!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
My oh works for lotus. We find if he puts factory worker motor trade its alot cheaper then mecanic even though hes doing a skilled job,0

Ice=babe - in the insurers eyes :-
Mechanic = petrol head, knows about cars, tunes them up etc etc.
Factory worker MT - bolts the cars together, probably just puts the dashboard on or some interior trim.
Out of interest, does hubby drive a Lotus? IIRC they have a purchase scheme for employees and it is one of the reasons Lotus is a popular employer in that part of Norfolk.0
