Help Choosing Samsung Ecobubble Washing Machine

Hello,
Our current washing machine (Bosch Exxcel 1200, Maxx Freedom Performance)
http://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/bosch_freestanding_washing_machine___save_gbp_20___wfo2467gb/version.asp
Has started to make funny noises and no longer seems to clean as well as it once does. It is also a bit small, now that we have a little boy.
Following lots of favourable reviews, we decided to go with a Samsung Ecobubble as a replacement.
However, there are literally dozens of models and I am not sure which one to go for.
Could anyone perhaps offer any advice or pointers on how to decided which model to go for?
Thanks in advance for any help.

If the existing Bosch isn't washing well, have you checked it's still heating the water up?0

I've been out of the industry for a good while but my general advice was don't go for a flash model with hundreds of programmes, you only use a few, make sure you buy one that has the programmes you need though. Often the flash expensive machine is the same as the cheap ordinary machine underneath.
I don't know about Samsung but some makes have longer guarantees on certain models, worth looking for.
I've just noticed that Samsung is the company advertising that miracle door for adding items during the wash. What a gimmick, you can add items during the wash on my old Miele, you wait for the drum to stop turning & open the door! Don't pay lots for gimmicks, think if they are really useful for you.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
Op u r right, Samsung believes in flooding market with tons of model. They are numbered based on colour, speed, range and washing capacity. Best bet is to go down to currys large store if possible. They have a comparison chart showing differences between models and that can help. Then come home an diet one on Internet if u can find cheaper.
We recently bought one and quite happy with it . its very good at cleaning, decent choice of programmes and very silent. Its 8kg,1200 room machine. Their ecobubble machines usually come with 5 years warranty. The ones with digital inverter have 10 year on the motor itself.0 -
We have an 8kg, 1400 spin ecobubble machine - we bought it from ao and I think it's this one. It's fine, has a good range of programmes and I like the way you can adjust the spin speed, number of rinses etc, so the washes are pretty customisable. We did have another one - a 7 or 8kg one, I can't remember - which we had for about a year before it developed a fault with the drum bearings and it had to be replaced, which ao did with only a little hassle. It probably seems a bit odd that we went for another Samsung after having a problem with the first, but we'd used one before in a previous rented property which was fine and I think we just were unlucky. Our current machine is fine and I'm pleased with it.0

I probably have the same 1400rpm but 8Kg chrome coloured model. Had an LG before that that I was SO glad to have break down (irritated me beyond belief with it constantly saying the load wasn't level, inspite of everything I could do).
Have to say it washes really well, even a mechanic's diesel soaked clothes. I do a 103 min cycle at 30 or 40 degrees (for a normal wash load, not the mechanic stuff lol) rather than a 2 hour cycle which was the minimum for the LG. Noticed my electricity bill reduced straight away and clothes still clean. All wash types come out cleaner than they did with the LG.., the bubble technology seems to work to my surprise, or something does.
I always go for the largest load model I can find at an affordable price.., because of the need to wash duvets. This manages a thick 13 tog duvet with no problems.
No, I don't work for Samsung lolol.
Just checked - I have a Samsung Ecobubble WF80F5E0W4W. But its about 18 months old so no idea if its still on sale. Works perfectly.
Just checked google, cheapest WF80F5E0W4W came up for £359 at AO.com with a tenner discount code - cheaper than when I bought it lol.0 -
Thanks so much for your help with this - much appreciated.
I guess the best way to proceed is indeed to try and at least knock out all the models that I definitely do not want.
It seems that 8kg is a popular choice, with 1400 rpm, so I shall discount those models with a smaller capacity and a slower rpm.
Just for arguments sake, would it be worth considering the jump to a 9kg load or looking for 8kg models?0 -
Just to add a brief contribution for what it's worth. It seems you are set on the Samsung Ecobubble so I won't go on at length. We have just replaced our washing machine ('Hoover' brand) and I spent quite a bit of time researching modern alternatives. The priority for me was sound levels, particularly on the spin cycles, and that it be as 'shallow' as possible to fit fully under the counter (the previous one protruded a little, obstructing a cupboard door). Our old washer hit 83dB on spin; so loud we couldn't hold a conversation in the same room! Most major brands I looked at came in at 76-78dB (roughly half the volume). In the end it came down to a range of Panasonics and the Ecobubbles, with some as low as 72dB on spin. The Panasonics and the Samsungs seemed the most favourable in this respect and I finally purchased an LG FH4U2VCN2, which was on offer through Currys until recently. What swung it in favour of the LG was user reports that the Samsung wash cycles can be extremely long. In hindsight, this probably applies to many machines if one uses certain cycles. I am pleased with the LG, though. I chose this particular model for the depth (56cm) and the drum size (9KG). The specific Ecobubble I was considering was the WW80J6410CW that I believe was a Which? best buy.
My main advice, though, is to check with your local public library whether they have a subscription to Which? You could take advantage of their free trial for home access if you haven't already and are prepared to cancel before they start charging the full rate, but I tend to just use our public library whenever I need to consult Which? reports these days.
Good luck in your choice of machine.0
