ACCESS storage haven't taken fees for 24 months

Hi,
We arranged a storage contract with Access to be paid by direct debit.
Apparently they never processed it properly and admittedly we had not noticed that payments were not going out.
They have contacted us to say that no payments have been made for 24 months.
Are we 100% liable for this error?

Well surely you knew that the money wasn't being taken from your account....Dwy galon, un dyhead,
Dwy dafod ond un iaith,
Dwy raff yn cydio’n ddolen,
Dau enaid ond un taith.0 -
That is the admitted point of stupidity on our part. Joint account for bills just topped up and never double-checked.0

You best arrange a payment plan otherwise they can just change the lock to your room and not let you take your stuff out until you pay.
It is in their terms.0 -
Yes, you are 100% liable and will have to pay. They have 6 years to chase you for the money.
If you cannot pay it in one go, then perhaps offer them smaller instalments.
If your stuff is still in storage, they might ask you to remove it...Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
We're meeting the storage facility manager tomorrow to discuss...0

I guess the good bit for you, if you were transferring enough to the joint account to just cover the bills the two years worth of payments are still sat in that account ready to pay as a lump sum, and you've been gaining the (probably tiny amount) of interest on it for all this time0
