Stocks and Shares ISA and the EU Vote

I received a marketing email from my Stocks and Shares ISA provider asking me if I am ready for tonight's' vote.

My ISA balance is currently zero (because I only opened it last month). Therefore I do not have to do anything. However, I am interested to here what others have done in preparation for the vote or what you are planning to do after the vote.

I havent done anything, just leave it as normal. Drip-feeding as normal, reinvesting dividends as normal.

That is what I thought. I did this during the credit crunch years (when I had a stocks and shares isa). Just carry on investing at the same rate through the good times and the bad.

The marketing email just made it sound like I was missing something.

Yep, after the referendum result I'll continue to do the same as Im doing now.

Btw, the marketing email has other intentions such as trying to encourage clients to trade more they receive more dealing commission!

With an ISA, cannot add more cash until next year, so if there is a crash, mini or mega, where's the money to buy?

So I have been cashing in on the bounce, in the last few days, where there is a profit to take. As of Thursday, it's half cash and half S&S, which is a halfway house stance.

It wasn't only brexit-related but over the last year and some I've reduced my equity holdings to about 20% of my total investments. Relatively recently I greatly reduced my remaining holdings of UK stocks.

I currently have quite a lot of money in cash. It's entirely possible that an opportunity to buy at good prices is being worked through.

My current exposure is 12% to the UK and 9% to the rest of Europe, so only about 20% overall. Equities overall make up 50% for me, which is the lowest it's ever been. The result is still going to be pretty painful for my portfolio.

Judging by the reaction in Asian markets, I'd say it's quite likely. How long prices take to bottom out is anyone's guess, so I'll be buying monthly in the usual fashion.

Can't get through to InvestDirect with HSBC to trade online.
Just as well, probably get burnt buying in a rush.

Wouldn't mind some more BNC Banco Santander at £2.77, if I can get through.

Big sigh of relief on HSBC. Bought a lot at £4.25 on 14th June, and it only fell down to £4.30 today, and it bounced back anyway. I could have sold for ~£4.50 yesterday, but it's meant to be a long term keeper.

RDSB didn't even fall below £18. I was hoping the July Sales have come early. Would buy lots at £15. Need to spread some rumour about Elon Musk buying SolarCity. If he scales it across the world, everyone will be driving on sun power, drastically reducing oil demand. I know, not enough Lithium in the world, and people will be beating each other up to charge-up. I just need people to believe it for a day.
