Hippo Bag, Skip or Grab Lorry

What makes more economical sense?

Hippo Bag
Skip
Grab Lorry

I have about 4 cubic yards of earth, grass and building waste to get rid of but don’t want to shell out unnecessarily over the odds.

I know cost differs with region but I have always used grabs in the past but would appreciate your views

I would go for the grab lorry even if it costs a bit more. It will save a lot of work shovelling into a skip.

As this is a money-saving site :D (and as I live only a couple of miles away from a council recycling site) I would buy rubble sacks and spend a day driving back and forth to the local tip.

Free tipping - just the cost of the petrol and a bit of muscle-building :rotfl:

Lots of councils don't allow you to do this.

Some of them give you grief if you try and tip more than one small bag away.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

Really? Well I'm glad I live in Birmingham then. We are recognised every time we go to the tip as we're there so often. At the weekend we went several times with the care full of rubble and plasterboard.

    Birmingham rocks!

Good evening: No problem down here in Planet Thanet either...the council would rather see waste going to the tip to be recycled than ending up fly tipped over the cliff tops:eek: We loaded everything into builder's bags and as/when we had enough for a dump run, made the short journey...saved lots of dosh!

Ask to see CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering)
  • Is the stuff all mixed up or separate. i ask because you might be able to get rid of some stuff for free.

For example, if you have a lot of soil you could advertise this free to collector in the local rag or on freecycle. I've got rid of several tons of sand and brick paving this way - worked a treat and its kind of recycling too!
