Moscow is stinking expensive, not sure about the rest of Russia. Plus you also have to factor in the cost of a visa plus a trip over to London to give them your fingerprints...

Russia have stated visas will be waived for World Cup attendees for the duration of the event. They are also laying on free train travel between venues if you have a match ticket.

FIFA's still gonna charge 80 quid for the cheapest match ticket though...!

Been in France the last three years (Nice then two years with Eurocamp), it's very much the norm. Fine for us doing self-catering as we don't have much chance to go out to 'nice' restaurants with two small kids but even mid-range restaurants were pricey, hard to just get a decent meal at a decent price (all a bit too fancy for us)

I've travelled to France about 30 times, spent several summers there too - and I like nice food. Believe me, you can eat very well for a reasonable price throughout the country!

It helps a lot if you speak the language :)

I've been to Biot and Antibes a few times. I think it's pretty reasonable for a decent meal and a nice carafe. Even the Michelin star haunts can be really good value compared to here.

Have to agree, speaking the language is a big bonus. My French is atrocious but the OH is pretty fluent.
